The 2025-2026 Junior Development Team Nova Scotia brings together some of the province’s most promising young golfers for monthly training sessions focused on every aspect of the game. Throughout the off-season, team members work on improving their swing, mental performance, nutrition, and strength and conditioning, all while learning from experienced PGA of Canada Golf Professionals. This program is designed toGolf Nova Scotia Junior Development Team Selection Proces help athletes elevate their skills, build confidence, and prepare for success in competitive golf and beyond.
The Golf NS junior development team is a program offered to identified athletes who have shown results through competition based on finishing position, strength of field and scoring average. Athletes competing in season are tracked through Provincials, GNS Junior Invitational Tour, Regional Tours, and Nationals.

Full Selection ProcessInvitations are sent to the top athletes in the age groups identified for this program. Total scores and strength of field are considered in making selections. Scores are considered when breaking ties. Golf Nova Scotia is committed to helping an athlete along the path of development.
Team Nova Scotia will be led by the Technical Director and supported by a sport science team. PGA members who are NCCP trained CNC / CDC will be named as coaches for these sessions.
Golf Nova Scotia’s Junior Development Team is designed to complement the program the athlete does with individual golf coaches. The program offers an opportunity to meet like-minded golfers from around the province.
The program includes fitness, technical skill, mental performance, nutrition, planning, scheduling, course management and testing. Personal golf Coaches are invited to sessions as well to encourage communication with their athletes. Online sessions are also been used.
There are program costs associated with this team. Golf Nova Scotia offers payment plans and a fundraising component.
Selection
1. The top 24 eligible male and female players on the Golf Nova Scotia Selection Order of merit
2. Target Age of Development Team 13-15 years of age (subject to change)
3. Eligibility: Must be a resident of Nova Scotia. Must be 18 years of age or younger as of August 1 of the year of selection
4. Placement and scores in Provincials and National events will be weighted heavily
5. Regional Tour placements and scoring average for multi day events will be weighted more heavily than 1 day Junior Tour events
6. 4 best events on the Junior Invitational Tour will be ranked based on placement and scoring average
7. Note: If players decline, the next ranked player may be selected by the Selection Committee, to the end of the list of 24 eligible players. If all spots have not been filled with eligible players, no further selection will be made.

Coaching Requirements
- Coaches selected to work with the development team must have proven experience with junior development. Coaches will be trained in CNC or CDC with the goal of becoming certified. Opportunities for professional development are extended to these coaches
Age Categories
Girls
- 25-30% of the athletes should be female (GOAL)
- Majority of the girls should be U13-U15 age
Boys
- Majority of the boys should be U13-U15 age
Timeline
- Invitations sent Sept 1 with a 10-day deadline to accept or decline
- Work through the next Pool based on age when declines are received
· Development Team is in place by fall camp in mid-October
Golf’s Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) guide encompasses all aspects of athlete progression – from early childhood through to adulthood. The framework is at the core of Golf Nova Scotia’s performance plan for Junior Development Teams. Our provincial team members are most likely in the Learn to Compete and Train to Compete phase of their development.
