Junior Talent Id
The Junior Order of Merit is a Talent ID recognition program to identify the best talent in male and female golfers aged U13-U19 compared to their peers. Golf Nova Scotia is committed to providing development opportunities to the top juniors in our Province based on their placement in the Order of Merit and tournament results.
A point system is used, based on approved tournament scores and results, to objectively rank everyone’s performance. The goal of the program is to identify talent and rank juniors among their peers. It can represent a starting point for golfers as they enter the competitive pathway.
Athlete Eligibility Standards for athletes in the Order of Merit
Golfers must meet the following prerequisites to be eligible to earn Order of Merit ranking points:
- Must be a member in good standing with Golf Nova Scotia and Golf Canada
- Must be a resident of Nova Scotia
For events to be recognized by the Order of Merit Program, they must be individual stroke play only. To capture a player’s “best” events the Top 5 will count for each category. Additionally, this means a player does not receive an unfair number of points for simply playing more events but rather for playing well over a variety of events.
The following events will be considered for 2023:
- Nova Scotia Junior Invitational Tour events (18 -hole events only)
- Nova Scotia Junior Provincial Championships
The sport development committee will announce eligible events prior to the tournament season and will be updated on the website.
The Golf Canada Order of Merit Table will be used to determine points for all athletes in the field. Available on our website Link to Order of Merit table.

Updating Rankings
Golf events will have Order of Merit Points updated within one week of completion of the event and available for view in real time on our website.
