Safe Sport Overview
Golf Nova Scotia has a fundamental obligation and responsibility to protect the health, safety, and physical and mental well-being of athletes, staff, volunteers, and other participants involved in our activities. Everyone has the right to participate in a sport environment free from maltreatment. Athletes, coaches, officials, parents and volunteers should always experience the positive benefits of sport without worrying about inappropriate behaviour. Practicing safe sport means ethical and appropriate engagements between all participants.
At the root of safe sport, is the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS). The UCCMS provides the foundation for the development of a coordinated implementation strategy to prevent and address maltreatment across all levels of the Canadian sport system, and for all participants (athletes, coaches, officials, administrators, practitioners, etc.).
