NSGA Senior Men’s 4-Ball Championship
Woodman & Banks Lead
Falmouth, N.S. – The opening round of the 2019 NSGA Senior Men’s 4-Ball Championship, hosted at Avon Valley G&CC, started off to be a gloomy one. Welcoming the morning groups with some dark clouds, and light showers. Luckily, the sun came out for the afternoon and made for a fantastic day of golf.
Leading the field are Avon Valley’s own Dean Woodman, and Paragon’s Erwin Banks. The 2016 champions carded an impressive bogey free round of 3-under-par 68. Sitting in 2nd place, and only one shot off the lead, are defending champs Mike Hebb (Ashburn) & David Shupe (Ashburn). Tied with them are couple Cape Bretoners, Bill Burns (Lingan) & Kevin MacRae (The Lakes).
Three teams sit tied for third at 1-under-par 71 (McCarthy & MacPherson, Gray & MacVicar, and Carruthers & deGraaf).
Taking top spot in the second division are teammates Chris McCarthy & Rod MacPherson. The Avon Valley members carded four birdies and three bogies to finish 1-under-par 70.
With good weather and great course conditions, and only 18 holes remaining, tomorrow’s final round is shaping up to be an exciting one!
