Become a Coach or Instructor to Earn a High School Credit!

In a partnership with the Department of Education and Sport Nova Scotia, the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage has developed the Sport Leadership Personal Development Credit for high school students in Nova Scotia. This program is designed to help students build valuable leadership skills in coaching and officiating, while giving back to their communities and contributing to sport development across the province.

The program is open to all Nova Scotia high school students in Grade 10 or above who are involved in coaching or officiating with a Provincial Sport Organization that is a member of Sport Nova Scotia.

Students enrolled in the program can earn a full school credit by completing the requirements in either coaching or officiating. To qualify, students must complete a total of 110 hours, which include both sport-specific education and hands-on practical experience—such as coaching practices and games or officiating matches.

If you are interested in participating or have questions about the program, please contact Mike Hudson at mike.hudson@novascotia.ca and we will provide you with the program intake form.
