When the dust settled on the final round it was Allison Chandler and Debbie Arsenault who successfully defended their titles at the 2020 Women’s Amateur and Senior Women’s Championships. This marks the third Women’s Amateur title for Chandler and the third Senior Women’s title for Arsenault. They both won each of their championships in the same years – 2017, 2019 and 2020.
Starting her day seven strokes behind the second round leader, Meghan McLean of Ken Wo Golf Club, Chandler battled her way to the top after shooting an impressive 1-over par (73). Chandler carded three birdies and four bogey during her final round and finished with a three-day total of 226.
Cristal Romero of Grandview Golf Club finished second overall. Romero also climbed up the leaderboard in the final round, firing a 3-over par (75). Romero was consistent throughout the championship with rounds of 78-76-75, for a three-day total of 229.
Meghan McLean finished in third place, one stroke behind Romero, with a three-day total of 230.

Consistency was the key to Debbie Arsenault’s success at the 2020 Senior Women’s Championship. The Grandview Golf Club member fired rounds of 78-77-78 to finish with three-day total of 233. As mentioned, this marks her third Provincial title in four years.
Ashburn’s Joanie McCarville finished second overall with a three-day total of 241. Tied for third place was 2018 Senior Women’s Champion, Sue Tumblin of Oakfield Golf and Country Club, and reigning Golf NB Amateur, Mid-Amateur, and Senior Women’s Champion, Leanne Richardson from Country Meadows Golf Club in Moncton, New Brunswick.
Special thanks to Jaguar Land Rover Halifax for providing hole-in-one prizes during the first round. Prizes included a Yeti cooler, golf clubs, a cruise, and the grand prize of a brand new vehicle from Jaguar Land Rover Halifax. There were no winners during this championship, but stay tuned as Jaguar Land Rover Halifax will sponsor hole-in-one prizes at all NSGA championships this summer.
