Hebb goes wire to wire to claim 3rd #GolfBeattieStrong Men’s Senior Championship title

Baddeck, N.S. – Today marked the close to yet another 2019 NSGA Provincial Championship. Bell Bay GC in Baddeck N.S. did a fantastic job hosting this years #GolfBeattieStrong Men’s Senior Championship. It’s pristine fairways, and championship conditions tested even the best senior men from all over the province.

Mike Hebb, from Ashburn GC, went wire to wire to claim his third Provincial Senior Championship, winning the title back in 2013 & 2015. Hebb played an impressive tournament, finishing with a three-day total of 6-under-par 210. A solid six shots ahead of the next competitor. Hebb accredited his game to his putter, but also his playing partners. “The greens were rolling nicely, and my putter found it’s way this week…finally. But I played with some great guys, and to me that’s what it’s all about.” Hebb hopes to continue his good golf into Ashburn’s Men’s Club Championship, taking place first thing tomorrow morning. Then he’s off to a few CSGA events in Ottawa. Play well Mike!

Nelson Thompson, from Truro GC, vibrantly took second place after firing a day low of 3-under-par 69. Thompson finished with a tournament total of 216. Rounding out the top three was Steven Ward from Ken-Wo GC, who finished one shot back of Thompson with a three day total of 1-over-par 217.

Defending champion Jim MacMaster claimed top spot in the Super Senior division (65+), after carding a 4-over-par 78, for a three day total of 5-over 221. Phil Howlett of Bay of Quinte G & CC and Denis McGuire of Penn Hills tied for top spot in division two, with a tournament total of 225. Thanks to Retrogression, McGuire took home top prize.
