McKinnon Leads 2019 MCT Mid-Amateur

McKinnon claims the Solo Lead in the 2019 MCT Mid-Amateur

Round 2 of the 2019 MCT Mid-Amateur was a battle for the golfers. Temperatures rose to 32 degrees celsius, with the ocean breeze not being much help.
Brett McKinnon of Ashburn was able to defeat the heat and has taken the solo lead after firing a score of 72 (+2). McKinnon is even through two rounds.  Only one shot back is Sean Stuart of Ashburn, who carded a plus 3, 73 and has a two-day total of (+1). There is a two-way tie between Mark Pothier of Ken-Wo CC and Paul Coulson of Truro for the last spot on the podium. Pothier fired a plus 2, 72 to earn this spot and Coulson fired a plus 5, 75 for a two day total for the both of them of (+4). Coulson is also leading the Mid-Master championship by 2 strokes, over Craig Hollett of Grandview (+6).

Chad Anderson of Brightwood fired a low round of one over, 71 (+7), to take the lead in Division 2. Two shots back in second place is John Dobson of Dundee Resort after entering the clubhouse with a plus 6, 76 (+9). In third place is Paul Fewer of Granite Springs, who shot plus 6, 76 (+10).
Division 3 is lead by Darrell Kline from Ashburn Golf Club, after firing a consistent 77, for a two day total of 153 (+13). Three shots back sits Robert Helmkay of Grandview. Helmkay fired a +10, 80 to sit at a two-day total of +16.
Round 3 is set to begin at 8:00am Sunday, July 20th.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The top three competitors, including one mid-master competitor (aged 40 and over), will be selected to compete in the Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship. This years national championship will be held at the Summit Golf Club in Toronto, ON on August 20-23. The practice round will be held on August 21.
In addition to the three team spots, the NSGA will award an additional five (5) quota spots for 2019 Canadian Mid- Amateur Championship. These five quota spots will be allocated based on results from the 2019 MCT Men’s Mid-Amateur Championships (no age restrictions).
