River Hills Golf & Country Club selected as NSGA Regional Development Center for 2021

The Nova Scotia Golf Association is pleased to announce that River Hills Golf & Country Club has been selected as the first Regional Development Center for the 2021 season.

River Hills G & CC and the NSGA will work together to close gaps in golf development at the provincial and community levels, focusing on junior program development, coach training, policy development and identifying various funding opportunities.

Program goals for year one of the partnership including exploring opportunities to enhance already existing programs and assist volunteer coaches with professional development.

“River Hills is excited to be combining efforts with the Nova Scotia Golf Association. With their guidance, new initiatives will include community coaches training, increased player skill level clinics, camps, and competitions.”

The NSGA plans to facilitate various programming out of River Hills G & CC for members in the surrounding communities. Including a Regional Junior Skills Challenge, a Junior Development Camp and various mobile clinics for women and new golfers. As well as a PGA of Canada Community Coach Workshop, as soon they restarts their training programs.

Junior Program Coordinator, Ryan Dixon says River Hills already has such a vibrant and inclusive junior program, and is excited about being a part of the NSGA RDC Program. “We encourage Juniors to learn and enjoy the game through free lessons, free membership, and open access to go play on the course. Having this opportunity to build on our history is exceptionally good news.”

Together, River Hills and the NSGA will increase access to fun and safe golf experiences to keep everyone in the game for a lifetime.
