ROUND ONE RECAP OF THE 2019 COBRA PUMA JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2019 Cobra Puma Junior Boys and Girls Championship got underway today at the Truro Golf Club. The best junior golfer from across Nova Scotia were blessed with great weather, and the course is in immaculate shape.
This marked the inaugural Peewee Championship (U13). Leading the Peewee boys division is Truro native, Zack Gaudet after he fired a 74 (+2). Heading into tomorrows second round, Gaudet has a comfortable lead over another Truro native, Elliot Mullen who carded an 82 (+10). Rounding out the top 3 is Rylan Sutherland of Brookfield G & CC, who csrded a steady 84 (+13).
Leading the Peewee girls division is Annika Parkash of Ashburn Golf Course, after firing an impressive 88 (+17). Ten shots back in second place is Claira Frizzell, NSPPC, at 98 (+27).
Seeking his first Bantam Boys Champion title is Tyler Lirette of Ashburn, who holds first place at 75 (+4). At a close second is yet another Ashburn competitor, Gavin Ives who fired a 78 (+7).
Lirette is also leading the Juvenile Boys division after round one. Owen Mullen of Truro Golf Club and Dimitri Mihelakos of Ashburn Golf Club both fired a steady 77 (+6) and are tied for second.
Defending Bantam Girls champion, Abbey Baker, is seeking second title after carding a strong 79 (+8). The Bantam Boys and Girls champions will be crowned following their second round, tomorrow. Baker is also leading the Juvenile Girls Championship and has a comfortable lead over Ken-Wo’s Danielle Cumby who us second place.
Leading the Junior Boys division and looking for his first junior title is Mark Chandler of Chester Golf Course, who fired a 72 (+1). In second place is Ewan Kelly Jr. of Ashburn Golf Club, who carded a first round total of 75 (+4). Third place belongs to Craig Landry from Antigonish, sitting one back of second after a 76 (+5).

The Junior Girls division is led by defending champion, Heather McLean of Ken-Wo. McLean fired a 76 (+5) today. Sara Cumby (Ken-Wo), is looking to score her first Junior Girls champion title as she sits in second place after shooting a 78 (+7). Rounding out the top 3 of this division is Haley Baker of Ashburn Golf Club, with a 81 (+10) today.

ATLANTIC FUTURE LINKS CHAMPIONSHIP
Quota spots for the Atlantic Futures Links will allocated based on the final results of the Junior Championships. Note: Pee Wee’s are NOT eligible for these quota spots.
- There are 12 quota spots for Junior Boys and 4 quota spots for Junior Girls.
- These quota spots will be awarded to competitors who are already registered in the Atlantic Championships.
- Competitors are responsible for travel and accommodations.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Junior Boys
The 2019 Canadian Junior Boys Championship will be at the Covered Bridge Golf and Country Club in Hartland, NB, August 12-15. The NSGA will be supporting a 3-person team to attend the Canadian Junior Boys. Each competitor will receive a $250 travel subsidy and two shirts. Competitors will be responsible for booking travel, accommodations and entry fees. The NSGA will not be sending a chaperone to nationals, nor is there funding for one.
An additional two (2) quota spots to compete in the Canadian Junior Boys Championship will be allocated based on results from the NSGA Junior Championship. There is no funding for this spot and the competitor will be responsible for all entry fee’s and travel related costs.

Junior Girls
The 2019 Canadian Junior Girls Championship will be at the Lethbridge Country Club in Lethbriudge, AB, July 30-Aug 02. The NSGA will be supporting a 3 person team to attend the Canadian Junior Girls. Each competitor will receive a $1000 travel subsidy and two shirts. Competitors will be responsible for booking travel, accommodations and entry fees. The NSGA will not be sending a chaperone with the team, nor is there funding for one.

*Competitors interested in competing in the Canadian Junior Boys and Girls Championships, and who earn a quota will be required to commit to using the quota spot immediately following completion of the NSGA Junior Championship on Thursday, July 11.*
