The 2019 MCT Mid-Amateur has come to a close. It was a successful weekend of exceptional competitive golf. During the final round, just as the final group made the turn, the weather began to decline. The expected rain and thunder storms made its way to Chester Golf Club, delaying what was an intense final round. After a short delay, the golfers were able to get back on the course and fight for the win.
Sean Stuart of Ashburn Golf Club has been crowned the 2019 MCT Mid-Amateur Champion, after firing a final round of 70, for a three-day total of 211. “It was a grind at the very end, but I’m pretty relieved with the outcome as the lead kept flipping back and forth the whole day.” said Stuart when asked how he felt about todays round. This is Stuarts second Provincial Championship title of the season, after winning the 2019 Men’s Four-Ball in June with partner Trevor Chow.
In second place is Brett McKinnon of Ashburn. McKinnon carded a 73 to secure his spot on the podium. The two battled it out until the end for the top spot. Rounding out the top 3 of the championship is Craig Hollett of Grandview who fired the low round of the day, 68, to secure this spot and finishing the three days at +4. Hollett is also the 2019 Mid-Master Champion.
Kevin George of Lingan fired a low round of 72 to be crowned the champion of Division 2.. Finishing in second place is John Dobson of Dundee who carded a three-day total of 227 after carding a 78 in round 3. Calum Cummings of Penn Hills and Chad Anderson of Brighwood finished tied for third on the podium in division 2. Cummings carded a steady 72 and Anderson an 8, for their three-day total of 228.
Division 3 champion is Darrell Kline of Ashburn who fired a 77 today, to bring his three-day total to 230. Taking second place is Jeff Fraser of Abercrombie, five back of first for a three-day total of 235, (+25). Rounding out the top 3 is Dan Anthony of Avon Valley. Anthony carded a strong 78 to bring his three-day total to 237, (+27).
