Williamson solo leader at MCT Men’s AM

It was yet another beautiful day at the valley’s Ken-Wo Golf Club. Amazing course conditions set the stage for “moving day” at the 2020 MCT Men’s Amateur Championship.
After firing yet another sub par round, Ashburn’s David Williamson managed to inch out ahead of the pack, and now sits alone atop the leaderboard. Williamson carded four birdies, and three bogies to finish one-under-par (69). The two-time MCT Men’s Amateur Champion has a two day total of 135, and sits one shot ahead of 2018 Champion, Shaun Margeson.
Margeson fired the low round of the day, (67) moving him into 2nd place overall, with a two day total of 136. The Oakfield Golf & Country Club member carded five birdies, and one eagle on No. 8. A 372 yard par 4.

Only two shots off the lead, and tied for third place is Bishops University golfer Ben Chasse. Chasse managed a solid even par (70) for the day. Tied with Chasse is Ashburn’s Jake Smith, who shot a steady one-under-par (69), after carding two birdies and one bogey. The pair have a two day total of 137.

Despite a few close attempts no competitors won the hole-in-one prizes, including a new car sponsored by Jaguar/Land Rover Halifax. Thank you to them for this amazing addition to our already exciting championships.

The third and final round of the 2020 MCT Men’s Amateur Championship begins tomorrow at 7:00am, with the leaders teeing it up at 2:40pm.
